AI Access at Launch

Dashboard view showcasing enterprise visibility into AI SaaS usage — highlighting detected apps, categorized use cases (e.g., code assistants, copilots, image generation), and clear classification labels that simplify policy enforcement.

Problem & Goals

The initiative had stalled for months due to misalignment and bloated scope. My task was to reboot the product in time for RSA, focusing on clarity and usability. Business goals centered on activation and engagement, while user goals demanded simple classification and policy enforcement.

Process

I facilitated design workshops with PMs, introduced a hexagon framework to constrain scope, and wireframed alternatives rapidly in Figma. Systems thinking guided me to reduce features from over a dozen to four, balancing consistency with PANW’s design system while introducing a new visual language for launch. Product thinking connected visibility directly to classification, simplifying policy management and ensuring usability.

Solution

The final launch design delivered a dashboard that surfaced AI SaaS apps and categorized them clearly for enforcement. Later, the product evolved to expand integration with existing PANW products and introduce AI‑assisted remediations. These additions proved the design was scalable; the interface remained clean and functional even as capabilities deepened.

Impact

AI Access achieved the highest activation and engagement among PANW’s AI products launched at RSA. Stakeholders reflected: “AI Access was designed to do one thing, and it does that well: identify what apps need to be classified and classify them.” The latest design demonstrated scalability, extending into integrations and AI‑assisted workflows without losing usability. My leadership impact extended beyond the launch, guiding designers to refine and extend the product, reinforcing my role as a principal shaping long‑term design maturity.
